EXCURSIONS and CULTURE

The number of possibilities for excursions and visits to events in the Algarve is so great that you can visit here for years without repetition.

There are nice excursions to the many small and large towns along the coast and inland. Day trips can be made to the west coast, Monchique, the Serras, along the Guadiana river and Spain (Sevilla).

There are weekly gypsy market in many places and especially the monthly Sunday markets in Estoi and Moncarapacho are very big and popular.

There are regular fish and seafood festivals and large fairs, such as the annual fair in Faro. 

There are cultural events for classical music lovers, including concerts by the Orquestra do Algarve, but also pop concerts with national and international artists. Also the typical Portuguese (Fado) music is populair.

There are reguallary fairs with local products, but also Medieval and Moorish feasts.

The Catholic Church has many saints and therefore many Catholic holidays. At these days there is nearly always a procession. In particular, the Easter procession in Sao Bras is a unique experience.
